Abbaye du Val-Dieu

The only non-Trappist brewing abbey in Belgium is a Cistercian Abbaye du Val-Dieu (Valley of God) which dates from 1216. This monastery is near village of Aubel, in the region known for Herve cheese, between the Belgian city of Liege, the Dutch city of Maastricht and the German city of Aachen. The brewery is located on the abbey ground and offers four main product based on the original recipe perfected centuries ago by the abbey monks. www.val-dieu.com/english/index.htm
